Anheuser-Busch Shock Top

Anheuser-Busch
Shock Top
USA
4/13/2008 on tap at Washington Nationals Stadium, 5.2 ABV

SmellHint of citrus. I didn't detect any of the coriander A-B uses in the brewing process, but I was outdoors, maybe it was there.
AppearanceSemi-cloudy, golden yellow with a small head.
TasteDefinite citrus, but again, no coriander, which may be a good thing. I would have liked a bit more wheat taste to come through. Moderate carbonation, easy to drink.
CommentsPaid $7.50 for a cup of this Blue Moon wannabe at the stadium as I watched the Nationals become 0-7. Ticket was free, so what the hell.
And what does "Shock-Top" mean?

  1. Before automated harvesting machinery, farmers bound wheat into sheaves and then the sheaves were stood grain end up and leaned against each other to make a shock of wheat. This kept the grain from being beaten to the ground by rain, which would cause it to spoil before it could be collected from the field. So the grain would be on the top of the shock.
