Victory Donnybrook Stout

Victory Brewing Company
Victory Donnybrook Stout
Downington, PA
3/26/2011, on tap at River Hill Sports Grill, 3.7 abv

Smell

Some typical coffee & burnt stout smells along with some old fashioned shoe polish, black I believe.

Appearance

Dark black with the typical creamy, tan head.

Taste

The shoe polish smell didn't come through in the taste, but maybe that would have given it some punch and made it taste better. The taste is simple and one dimensional and the overall feel is thin and watery. It's not bad, but just ho-hum.

Comments

Victory makes some impressive beers, but this isn't one of them. I was disappointed. Guinness is better.
