Widmer Hefeweizen

Widmer Brothers Brewing Co.
Widmer Hefeweizen
Portland, Oregon
6/28/2009, on tap, 4.7 abv

Smell

Smell was a bit weak with some wheat and citrus.

Appearance

Probably the best looking beer I have ever seen. Bright, creamy yellow, almost fluorescent, like a yellow highlighter. The head was big, dense and fluffy.
Taste

The taste was reminiscent of sweaty socks that have been left in a dark hamper for a few weeks.

Comments

I wanted to like this one because it looked so good. I suspect the off taste was a result of poorly maintained or dirty beer lines, so I will definitely try this one again.

  2. I was at the Northern Virginia Summer Brewfest. Perhaps the beer sat unrefrigerated in the lines overnight causing a yeast problem. Or maybe it just tastes like that. I'm going to have a bottle or 2 over the weekend and if it is determined that it was a dispensing problem, I will delete this review and write another.
