Yuengling Original Black and Tan

Yuengling & Sons
Yuengling Original Black & Tan
Pottsville, PA
8/26/2009, bottle, 4.7 abv

Smell

Light with some smokey, roasted malt and a touch of coffee.

Appearance

Cola brown with reddish highlights with a moderate off-white head.

Taste

Not bad, smokey sweet upfront with a very mild bitter coffee finish. I was expecting a bit more, but I probably shouldn't have. It was a little watery, but that's what happens when you mix a porter or stout with a lager. This was kind of like stout for dummies. I would like to try Yuengling Porter by itself.

Comments

Black & tans on tap with a nice stout & lager mixed on the spot are much more enjoyable. This is my first B & T from a bottle and it wasn't bad.
