Rogue Ales
Voodoo Doughnut Bacon Maple Ale
Portland, Oregon
12/26/2012, 750-ml bright pink bottle, 5.6 abv

Smell

Smells like your clothes after you have sat beside a campfire for several hours and cooked a few pounds of bacon.

Appearance

Slightly cloudy, orangeish brown with a very small, quickly disappeareing head.

Taste

Taste is sweet, salty and very smoky. All of the intended flavors come through, maple syrup and smoked bacon. The first few sips are interesting, but then the smoke flavor becomes too intense and the whole thing becomes kind of weird.

Comments

Hats off to Rogue Ales for once again thinking outside of the box and coming up with this strange brew. Even the bright pink bottle is both hideous and cool at the same time.
Share this beer with friends, don't take it too seriously and enjoy if for what it is.

Rogue also makes Voodoo Doughnut Chocolate Peanut Butter Ale, which sounds horrendous, but, oddly enough, I want to try it.

Thanks to Justin for sharing it.
